First Performance - New Oboe Concerto First Movement

Keith Templeman is an amateur composer and musician. His two most recent large-scale works were performed in Buckingham in 2004 and 2005, and is currently working on a Wind Serenade, an Oboe Concerto and a Symphony. The first movement of the Oboe Concerto was performed on April 21st at St Peter and St Paul's Church, Olney by Karen Mason and the St Albans Symphony Orchestra conducted by James Ross.
Keith Templeman's music has been described as neo-romantic, and it certainly follows in the English harmonic tradition of Walton, Vaughan-Williams and Finzi.
Keith was lucky enough to be offered the opportunity to study music from the age of seven at the Council-funded East Ham Academy of Music, starting with the piano, then the cello from the age of nine. He performed his first composition for piano at a concert in 1967, and a string quartet and concerto were performed publicly in 1975. From the age of eighteen he attended King’s College London, and graduated with a BMus in 1978, specialising in composition. During this time he studied with Peter Wishart, Brian Trowell and Nicola Lefanu. After a long gap Keith started playing the cello again, with the St Albans Symphony Orchestra in 1998, and resumed composing in 2003. Keith lives in Buckinghamshire with his wife Jane, and works in I.T.
Nowell for unaccopanied choir was sung again by the Stantonbury Chamber choir in December 2006. The Cor Anglais Concerto was performed again on October 14th 2006 at St Peter and St Paul's Church, Olney, Bucks by The Buckinghamshire Chamber Orchestra. Soloist was Karen Mason, and conductor Catherine Rose.
